Aloha !

Pareil à un grain de sable que l’impermanence de la vie peut souffler au gré de son alizé, ce disque est versatile au possible. Amatrices, amateurs de Surf-Music à papa, ce disque ne fait pas mal, ne fait pas de mal, il régénère voilà tout.

Cestas, Côte d’argent, Aquitaine, pendant que le vent marin brise l’écume le long des plages océanes en ce doux hiver printanier d’été indien, que tout baigne dans l’azur serai-je tenté effrontément de stipuler…

…Et bien le nouvel album d’Arno De Cea fracasse la surf-music sur les ressacs noisy-rOck/émöcore[powerOck\PunkRock… (suite…)

Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards – Bug Terminal

If you’re looking for the heaviest instro record of 2015, I believe this is your stop. If you’re not already acquainted with his work with the Clockwork Wizards, hopefully you know Arno from The Irradiates (), Antena Tres or Stef and Arno. Arno is as frantic as he’s ever been, but the guitar sound is colossal on a catastrophic level, and meaner than ever. I’m curious how fans of post-rock like Russian Circles or even Converge or Envy fans would receive this, as it seems to shoot for a similar vibe of epicness and rage. That said, one of my favorite tracks is actually the more melodic (not to mention Anthemic) « Loose Lips Sink Ships ». An absolutely killer album and I continue to look forward to anything Arno touches.

Chronique “Bug Terminal”

BUG TERMINAL
Throughout his work in Stef & Arno, Antena Tres, The Irradiates, and Arno De Cea & The Clockwork Wizards, Arno de Cea has proven himself to be one one hell of a psycho, frantic, and all around excellent guitar player. At some point calling it « surf rock » sounds too leisurely, not desperate enough, no matter how big the imaginary wave. From the very first note, of « Bug Terminal » it’s loud, huge, bold, and so hyperactive that I struggle to come up with some sort of activity that this would be suitable for. Catastrophe rock? Apocalypse rock? There are a few moments on here where he changes up the pace: an acoustic number (« Ascension »), one vocal punk track (« The Hammer and the Nails »), one that’s pretty much doom metal (« Soy Diabolico »), one slow one (« Meduses »), and one mid-pace track (« Loose Lips Sink Ships »).
